Why this book exists
A focused place to understand what is happening
Cecilia heard the word normal so many times that it began to sound like an accusation. She was fifty-one, and for two years her body had been doing things it had never done before. Her left leg would give way without warning, sometimes buckling entirely so that she fell. Her hands would tremble. The left side of her body would go strangely numb. A crushing fatigue would pin her to the bed. And there were episodes, terrifying, when her body would shake and jerk in a way that looked, to those who saw it, like a seizure. She was not imagining any of it. These were real, physical, frightening events happening in her actual body, disabling her life, ending her career, frightening her family. And every test came back normal. The brain scan, the nerve.
The writing is designed to reduce shame, bring the underlying pattern into view and give you practical ways to respond without pretending that every life follows the same formula.
