Why this book exists
A focused place to understand what is happening
Bryn is thirty-six. Two years ago a van came through a junction and his car went into a wall, and he was in hospital for eleven days and walked out of it. There is no scar anyone would notice, no stick, no chair, nothing that would make a stranger look twice. What has actually happened to Bryn is that he cannot hold a conversation in a room with background noise, loses the thread of what he is saying halfway through a sentence, cannot remember whether he has taken his tablets, and becomes so tired by two in the afternoon that he has to lie down in a dark room. He has lost his job, because none of that is compatible with the work he used to do. He also loses his temper in a way he never did before, over nothing, and has watched his wife's face while.
The writing is designed to reduce shame, bring the underlying pattern into view and give you practical ways to respond without pretending that every life follows the same formula.
