Why this book exists
A focused place to understand what is happening
Anouk is forty-six, she is a pharmacist in Coventry, and she carries her family. She carries her mother, who is seventy-nine and lives eleven minutes away and cannot manage the stairs. She carries the money, quietly, in amounts nobody discusses. She carries Christmas, which has been at her house since 2011. She carries her sister's crises, which arrive by telephone at eleven at night and last ninety minutes. She carries the forms, the appointments, the man about the boiler. She came to coaching to be told how to make them help. I asked her whether anybody ever had.
The writing is designed to reduce shame, bring the underlying pattern into view and give you practical ways to respond without pretending that every life follows the same formula.
