Why this book exists
A focused place to understand what is happening
She was in the car. She had said the wrong thing at a meeting, mildly, the sort of thing nobody else would remember by lunchtime, and at the roundabout it arrived, fully formed, at speed and in the usual words. What is wrong with you. She has heard some version of that sentence perhaps forty thousand times. That afternoon she heard it properly for the first time, and pulled in, and sat there. Because it did not say what is wrong with me.
The writing is designed to reduce shame, bring the underlying pattern into view and give you practical ways to respond without pretending that every life follows the same formula.
